Katherine (Katy) Hokanson is a Manager of Content Development and Programming at the Center for Transforming Alternative Preparation Pathways (CTAPP) at Dallas College. In her role, she provides guidance and support to educator preparation programs on the implementation of their transformation goals, and she designs research-based tools, resources, and training to complement those efforts.

Katy entered the field of education after a decade-plus career in institutional real estate management and investments. She earned her Texas teacher certificate via alternative certification and taught middle school math and science. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she formed and taught a learning pod which included early childhood to second grade students. She holds teacher certification in the areas of Core Subjects w/ STR (EC-6), Math/Science (4-8), Mathematics (7-12), ESL Supplemental (EC-12), and Special Education Supplemental (EC-12).

Prior to joining CTAPP, Katy worked for more than four years at Austin Community College’s alternative certification program as certification officer, field supervision coordinator, and course instructor. A seventh-generation Texan, Katy is driven to ensure that every child in Texas receives an equitable and high-quality education; she knows that is achievable when teachers are effectively trained and properly supported.

Katy graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in English (major) and Mechanical Engineering (minor). She went on to earn her M.Ed. from Concordia University Texas and is currently pursuing her Ed.D. at Johns Hopkins University.
